Opinion | Michigan needs immigrants. Court rulings betray ideals and economic reality

Michigan's economy significantly benefits from the contributions of new immigrants, who play a critical role in sustaining the state's growth. Recent Supreme Court rulings on asylum and Temporary Protected Status have ignored both the nation's foundational ideals and the economic realities on the ground. These decisions risk stifling Michigan's economic dynamism and contradicting the state's long-standing tradition of welcoming newcomers. This is a troubling deviation from the values that have historically driven the state's prosperity.
