The openSUSE Leap 16.1 Linux distribution is out today and built from the same sources as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 16.1. In addition to all the software updates of openSUSE Leap 16.1, this release is also notable as their Leap Micro immutable server distribution is now part of Leap itself. OpenSUSE Leap 16.1 offers an "immutable mode" as part of the release for those wanting to deploy an immutable server environment. OpenSUSE Leap 16.1 features the KDE Plasma 6.6 desktop, GNOME 48 is available too, and Linux 6.12 LTS continues to be the default kernel. More details and downloads for today's openSUSE Leap 16.1 release can be found at opensuse.org.
