Open-Source NVIDIA "Nova" Driver Sees More Functionality For Linux 7.3

Sent to DRM-Next this week was the DRM Rust core and driver changes targeting the upcoming Linux 7.3 merge window. There continues to be a lot of DRM core infrastructure work happening for Rust integration plus two leading Rust DRM drivers of Nova for open-source NVIDIA GPU support as the successor to Nouveau and then Tyr as the in-development Arm Mali driver. The DRM Rust code for Linux 7.3 continues to contain a lot of infrastructure work around I/O, a SysMem back-end for shared system memory with volatile access, and RegistrationData and RegistrationGuard to capture device lifetime-annotated resources. On the Nova driver side for next-gen open-source NVIDIA kernel driver support there are various improvements around consolidating the GPU System Processor (GSP) boot process, vGPU boot support added, TLV firmware image format support, and various improvements to the NVIDIA Hopper and Blackwell support code. Plus various other fixes and smaller improvements to that open-source Rust kernel graphics driver being heavily invested in by NVIDIA. Earlier this summer when visiting NVIDIA there were some very intriguing answers when I asked various NVIDIA reps regarding Nova. Sadly, the official written remarks and follow-ups around the Nova driver remarks have yet to arrive. But I will say Nova is definitely something to pay attention to and as seen from the public mailing lists there continues to be significant investments by NVIDIA engineers. Meanwhile the Tyr driver for modern Arm Mali kernel driver support has seen firmware loading and MCU boot improvements with this new code for Linux 7.3. This pull request lays out all the interesting Rust DRM changes for Linux 7.3.
