Only 50 units: Skoda Octavia RS returns to India at Rs 56.69 lakh

Only 50 units of the performance sedan will be available in India, with deliveries beginning next week.Skoda has launched the second batch of the Octavia RS in India at Rs 56.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Limited to just 50 units, the performance sedan is Rs 6.70 lakh more expensive than the first batch, which was priced at Rs 49.99 lakh. The first batch of 100 units sold out even before the car was officially launched in India last year.The second batch is now available for bookings, with deliveries scheduled to begin next week. It is offered in three colours – Mamba Green, Velvet Red and Magic Black.Skoda Octavia RS: Engine and performanceThe Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 265bhp and 370Nm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Skoda claims a 0-100kph time of 6.4 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250kph.The performance sedan also gets sports suspension, progressive steering and a revised chassis setup aimed at delivering sharper handling. Octavia RS: Design and featuresThe Octavia RS gets a sportier exterior with full-LED Matrix headlights, LED tail-lamps with dynamic indicators, gloss-black detailing and 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40 R19 tyres.Inside, it comes with Suedia leather upholstery with red contrast stitching, electrically adjustable sports seats with memory, heating and massage functions, ambient lighting and a Virtual Cockpit. Other highlights include three-zone climate control, wireless charging and a 32.77cm infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety equipment includes 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, head-up display and an ADAS suite with features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane assist. The car also gets Intelligent Park Assist.Despite its performance focus, the Octavia RS retains the practicality expected of the standard model, with a 600-litre boot that can be expanded to 1,555 litres.Skoda Octavia RS: LegacyThe Octavia RS nameplate has been sold in India since 2004, when the first-generation model became the country’s first turbo-petrol car. The performance badge later returned with the Laura RS, Octavia RS 230 and Octavia RS 245.The latest model also marks 30 years of the Octavia nameplate and more than five decades of the RS badge.
