Once a Muslim, TV actor who converted to Hinduism roasts Samay Raina on Latent 2

Actor Surabhi Vanzara, earlier known as Shabnam Syed, is back in the spotlight after appearing on the latest episode of comedian Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent 2. After marriage, she changed her religion and converted to Hinduism, and also changed her name to Surabhi Vanzara. Her appearance on the show has drawn attention after she traded sharp lines with Samay and the panel.The episode has also renewed focus on Surabhi’s work across television and films, as well as her more recent stand-up comedy presence online.Before her marriage, Surabhi was known as Shabnam Syed. In an earlier interview with TeleChakkar, she said, “Keeping in mind the tradition of changing the daughter-in-law’s name in her in-laws’ house, I decided to change my name to Surabhi Vanzara. Long before we met, my husband’s parents used to joke that they would find a girl named Surabhi for Saurabh.”Her credits for Qubool Hai and Ssshhhh Koi Hai still carry that name. IMDb lists her as Surabhi Vanzara and notes that she has been married to Saurabh M Vanzara since August 22, 2011. On India’s Got Latent 2, she also mentioned that she was married to a rich Gujarati man. Her television credits include Millee, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Hitler Didi and Qubool Hai. In Qubool Hai, she played Shireen Rashid Ahmed Khan, a role that gave her considerable visibility on television.She also appeared in Anurag Basu’s Murder (2004), starring Emraan Hashmi, Mallika Sherawat and Ashmit Patel. In the film, she played Radhika, a character connected to Emraan’s Sunny. She was also seen in Tumsa Nahin Dekha: A Love Story, another Emraan Hashmi-starrer directed by Anurag Basu, where she played Reshma, a friend of Dia Mirza’s character Jiya. Her filmography also includes Raaz: The Mystery Continues and Hate Story 2. After the panel said they did not like her performance, the exchange that followed became the talking point of the episode.After the panel said they did not like her act, Kushagra added that Surabhi looked like she would fly away on a broom and had a “Komolika” vibe. She replied, “What’s your name, sir? Everybody else I do know.”Samay then asked if she was normally like she was on the show. Surabhi said, “This is all thanks to you. Meeting you is not easy, Samay. It’s quite mentally disturbing. You disturb the entire country.” When asked if she was nervous to meet him, she replied, “Don’t give yourself so much credit.
