Police have arrested the accused.Stalker stabs Agra woman in neck, back for rejecting his advances.Police in Agra arrested a man after he allegedly stalked, physically assaulted, and stabbed a young woman in the neck and back after she rejected his romantic advances, authorities said.The incident occurred around 10:30 am on Wednesday at the JCB intersection in the city’s Shastripuram area. The woman, a resident of Sikandra, was commuting to work on her scooter when the suspect, identified by police as Omkar, intercepted her on a motorbike and demanded she go with him, according to officials.When the woman refused, Omkar allegedly removed her scooter keys. As she took out her mobile phone to call her family for help, he snatched the device, threw her to the ground, and repeatedly kicked and punched her, police said. When she tried to fight back, Omkar pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the back and neck.Bystanders rushed to intervene after hearing the woman's screams, forcing Omkar and an unidentified companion to flee the scene on their two-wheeler, according to police. The woman was transported to a private hospital nearby, where she received emergency treatment and stitches for her neck wounds.The woman’s uncle, Robin Jain, told reporters that Omkar lived in the neighbourhood and was unemployed. Family members had objected to him following her, to no avail. "Now he’s crossed all limits. He not only attacked my niece with a knife and left her bleeding, but also snatched her phone, gold chain and robbed her of around Rs 2,800. Strict action should be taken against men like him," Jain said.The survivor told police that Omkar had been stalking, harassing, and pressuring her to enter a relationship with him for nearly a year. She balances her job at a surgical equipment manufacturing company with her studies for a Bachelor of Commerce degree.Police took Omkar into custody shortly after the attack and are on the lookout for his accomplice who remains on the run.
