Green, 76, of Huddersfield, was convicted at Leeds crown court on all charges in 2024. His victim, who he attacked from the age of nine to 13, told The Sun she was contacted recently by liaison officers. She said: “I got an email with the subject ‘Developments’ and thought ‘they’ve got him’. “But it read, ‘I have to tell you once he’s apprehended, he will be let out early’. This is not justice. How can this be right?” Currently, serious sex offenders like Green serve two thirds of their term but under the new Sentencing Act they could be freed after half. PM Andy Burnham has paused the early release scheme due to start in September amid fury that vile lags such as two who killed PC Andrew Harper could go free.
