The World Health Organization (WHO) announced the initiation of a clinical trial next week in the Democratic Republic of Congo to test two treatments against Ebola, a rare virus strain known as Bundibugyo. This trial will take place in Ituri province, which is at the epicenter of the current outbreak, potentially involving between 500 and 1,000 people. The trial's scope and participants will depend on the effectiveness of the treatments being tested. This move is crucial as it aims to find a more effective treatment for the ongoing Ebola outbreak, which has also affected Uganda to a lesser extent.
