Oman to showcase its thriving natural stone products at Marmomac exhibition in Italy

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Supervisory Team for Promoting Omani Products (OPEX), is set to take part in the 60th edition of Marmomac, the international exhibition for stone, design and technology, which will commence on Tuesday in Verona, Italy.Marmomac serves as a leading global platform covering the entire natural stone supply chain, from quarrying and material processing to advanced technologies, machinery and tools. Eng. Dawood bin Salim Al Hadabi, CEO of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) and Head of OPEX Team, stated that the Sultanate of Oman’s participation in this year’s edition comes with an expanded presence, reflected in a larger pavilion and a greater number of participating Omani companies. “This provides the Omani companies with wider exposure to showcase their products and establish business relations with investors, buyers and specialists in the marble and natural stone sector from around the globe,” Al Hadabi pointed out. Al Hadabi noted that this year also marks a significant development in the implementation of the Sultanate’s pavilion, with its design and construction entrusted, for the first time, to a local company registered with the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada) and managed by Omanis. “The move reflects efforts to empower the local enterprises and provide them with opportunities to contribute to Oman’s participation at international events, while enhancing in-country value and showcasing the capabilities of Omani talent,” he said.He added that Marmomac provides Omani companies with an opportunity to showcase their products to an international audience, explore the latest trends in natural stone extraction, processing and design technologies, and identify export, partnership and investment opportunities that can contribute to the sector’s development and competitiveness. Al Hadabi emphasised that expanding Oman’s participation in the exhibition aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to build a diversified and competitive economy by strengthening the role of the private sector, developing non-oil exports, empowering SMEs, and maximising the value of natural resources by transforming them into value-added products capable of competing in global markets. The participation of the Sultanate of Oman forms part of 2026 plan of OPEX team, which comprises Madayn, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada). Through its international participation, OPEX seeks to diversify marketing channels for Omani products, support national companies and factories in accessing new markets, explore emerging trends in trade and exports, and establish direct relations with international partners and investors.Marmomac 2026 features a programme bringing together business, technology, architecture, design and culture, presenting specialised displays, sessions and training activities. The 60th edition also features the launch of the new “The Bedrock” exhibition format, in addition to Marmomac Academy activities aimed at promoting knowledge and expertise exchange among professionals in the natural stone sector.
