Oman reaffirms its international commitment to youth empowerment, developmental participation

New York: The Sultanate of Oman has renewed its steadfast commitment to sustaining partnership and cooperation with the United Nations and its Youth Office, in order to empower young cadres, activate their pivotal role in decision-making processes and advance the foundations of global peace.This declaration was delivered by Ambassador Omar bin Said Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, during the official debate session of the General Assembly convened to review the Secretary-General's report on the United Nations Youth Office. The Sultanate of Oman expressed its endorsement of the outcomes and demonstrated progress outlined in the report concerning the implementation of the UN Youth Strategy 2030, and the translation of international commitments enshrined in the Pact for the Future into actionable, tangible measures that bolster meaningful youth participation—with particular emphasis on the shared agenda of youth, peace, and security.The Permanent Representative affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman has accorded significant priority, within the strategic objectives of Oman Vision 2040, to cultivating a comprehensive national environment that nurtures the aspirations of young people. This entails integrating their perspectives across all development trajectories and engaging them as genuine agents in shaping the contours of tomorrow.He further outlined the support ecosystem extended to hundreds of youth-led initiatives across entrepreneurship, innovation, and social responsibility, facilitated through national programmes and business incubators. He highlighted notable flagship endeavours, including the National Youth Excellence Award, Oman Debates platform, the Young Ambassadors Project, as well as the network of youth centres established across the governorates.
