Oman, Niger hold talks on food security

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and the Republic of Niger held a session of talks today.The session discussed aspects of existing cooperation and explored opportunities to develop and expand them in a manner that contributes to supporting food security efforts, enhancing sustainability, and exchanging expertise in fields of mutual interest. This came during a meeting between Eng. Yaqoub Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries, and Bakary Yaou Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad of the Republic of Niger.The meeting addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and water resources. Additionally, it reviewed opportunities for cooperation in employing modern agricultural technologies, developing water resources management, and enhancing investment and innovation in the agricultural and livestock sectors. This aims to keep pace with the developmental trends of both countries and contribute to achieving the optimal use of natural resources.The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and the exchange of expertise, as well as enhancing technical and investment partnerships to serve shared interests and support sustainable development. They expressed their aspiration to open new horizons for cooperation that will yield mutual benefits for the two countries.
