Oman mandates accredited medical exams for all seafarers seeking fitness certificates

Muscat: All seafarers wishing to obtain a medical fitness certificate must undergo medical examinations by physicians accredited by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, represented by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, urges all seafarers wishing to obtain a seafarer's medical fitness certificate to undergo medical examinations only through its accredited physicians. This is in accordance with the approved list available at the following link: https://mtcit.gov.om/ar/4/11/87/1267Therefore, any medical reports or fitness certificates issued by doctors or medical practitioners not authorised on the list approved by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs will not be considered valid.
