Oman face Saudi Arabia seeking crucial Gulf Cup win

Jeddah — Oman’s national football team will face Saudi Arabia tomorrow, Saturday, in its second match of the 27th Gulf Cup at 10pm Oman time at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.Oman will seek a positive result, with victory strengthening its chances of reaching the semi-finals. Saudi Arabia lead Group A with three points after defeating Kuwait, while Oman drew 1-1 with Iraq in their opening match. Coach Tarik Sektioui said the match will be difficult for both sides, stressing that the better-prepared team will have the opportunity to secure a positive result.He confirmed that all Omani players are fit and available, adding that the coaching staff has worked on tactical, physical and mental aspects ahead of the encounter.Tarik Sektioui acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s home advantage and strong crowd support but said Oman’s players are motivated and will enter the match with a winning mentality.He also praised the team’s response against Iraq, particularly its improved performance in the second half, which enabled Oman to secure a draw.The coach stressed the importance of teamwork, discipline and mutual respect within the squad, noting that all players called up to the national team have an important role to play.Oman player Abdulmajid Al-Balushi said the coaching staff had worked to strengthen both the team’s positive aspects and areas requiring improvement.He added that the players are fully prepared and motivated to represent Oman, stressing that wearing the national team emblem carries a strong sense of responsibility, particularly for those making their first appearance in the Gulf Cup.The match will be Oman’s second Group A fixture as the team seeks to move closer to the semi-finals.
