Olivia Wilde’s A24 Relationship Dramedy ‘The Invite’ Sets HBO Max Premiere Date

The relationship dramedy directed by Olivia Wilde will begin streaming exclusively on HBO Max October 23, debuting on HBO linear at 8:00 p.m. ET on October 24. An English-language remake of the 2020 Spanish film The People Upstairs (Sentimental) by Cesc Gay, The Invite centers on Joe (Seth Rogen) and Angela (Wilde), whose marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors (Edward Norton & Penélope Cruz) for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Wilde directed from a script by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, with David Permut, Ben Browning and Megan Ellison producing. The indie was a theatrical hit, going on to gross over $55M worldwide over the summer after premiering to critical acclaim at Sundance.
