Just like her previous collection, we need it all. (Picture: Metro/River Island/Getty) Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been lucky enough to support and cover some of the TV personality’s biggest launches. From celebrating the arrival of alcoholic drinks brand, Savano, to joining her at an intimate Tatti Lashes dinner surrounded by some of the industry’s biggest names. What struck me most at both events was just how hands-on Olivia is. Whether she was talking guests through the inspiration of both, or discussing beauty trends, her passion for creating products that genuinely fit into people’s everyday lives was impossible to miss. So when I heard she was returning to River Island with another fashion collection, I was understandably excited. You can’t beat a staple shirt. (Picture: Metro/River Island) After all, her last edit was utterly gorgeous. It struck that difficult balance between trend-led and wearable, offering elevated wardrobe staples that felt current without being intimidating. More importantly, they were pieces I could actually imagine people reaching for time and time again. Now, Olivia is back with a collection inspired by late-summer sunsets, spontaneous plans and the excitement of a new season on the horizon – and it might just be her strongest River Island collaboration yet. After the huge success of her last River Island collection – which was packed with wearable denim, elevated basics and the sort of pieces that mysteriously make it look like you have your life together – Olivia is back with another edit, and this time she’s turning her attention to late-summer dressing. This trench is going straight into our basket. (Picture: Metro/River Island) The new River Island x Olivia Attwood collection is all about those golden weeks between peak summer and autumn, when you’re desperately clinging onto warm evenings, spontaneous pub garden plans and any excuse to wear sunglasses after 6pm. Think effortless staples mixed with statement pieces that work now and won’t be banished to the back of your wardrobe when September arrives. Naturally, denim is at the heart of the collection. Relaxed light-wash jeans, crisp white denim styles and distressed grey washes create the foundations for countless outfits, while feminine corset tops, satin draped blouses and sheer halternecks bring a softer, more elevated feel. How gorgeous is that lace corset? (Picture: Metro/River Island) It’s a formula Olivia has become particularly good at: taking trend-led pieces and making them approachable enough for real life. Outerwear also gets a starring role, which feels particularly timely given the British weather’s inability to commit to a season. Standout pieces include a chic trench-inspired jacket, a washed denim military style and a playful pink tech bomber that’s guaranteed to rack up compliments. Elsewhere, chocolate-brown co-ords channel quiet luxury, cream satin separates add a touch of elegance, and animal print accessories nod to Olivia’s signature glamorous edge. There are also floral corsage details and pink jacquard tailoring for anyone looking to embrace a more romantic aesthetic. This dress and shoe combo is everything. (Picture: Metro/River Island) Speaking about the collection, Olivia said: ‘I wanted this collection to capture the feeling at the end of summer when you’re making the most of every last sunset-filled evening, while also getting excited to dress for a new season.’ And after seeing the pieces for myself, I’d say she’s nailed it. What I particularly love is that, much like her previous collection, these aren’t items designed solely to look fantastic in your next Instagram photo dump of images from the summer – they’re genuinely versatile pieces that can be worn now with sandals and denim shorts, then layered into autumn with boots, knitwear and structured jackets. If we’ve learnt anything from Olivia, it’s how important a good pair of jeans is. (Picture: Metro/River Island) If, like me, you’re not quite ready to say goodbye to summer but are secretly excited about autumn fashion, this collection might just offer the best of both worlds. The River Island x Olivia Attwood collection launches online and in selected stores from today, July 30, with prices ranging from £14 to £45, and sizes available from 6 to 22. It’s been fascinating to watch her evolution from reality TV favourite to bona fide businesswoman and style authority over the past seven months. Everything she launches seems to generate a buzz, and judging by the reaction to both Savano and her Tatti Lashes collaboration, her audience is only growing.
