The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the Republic of Nauru’s decision to open its embassy in the occupied Jerusalem. OIC emphasised that Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, and that Nauru’s action is illegal under international law and relevant UN resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolutions 476 and 478 of 1980. The 57-member organisation urged Nauru and other countries that have moved their embassies to the occupied territory to reverse their illegal decisions and contribute to international efforts towards the two-state solution.
