Officials told to ensure all eligible handloom weavers get ‘Nethanna Sevalo’ benefits

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav on Thursday (August 27, 2026) called on the officials to ensure that every eligible handloom weaver receives benefits under the “Nethanna Sevalo” scheme.Addressing a review meeting with officials of the Revenue and Handlooms Departments at the local NDA Office in Dharmavaram of Sri Sathya Sai district, the Minister listed the beneficiaries who had received the assistance and those who were left out despite being eligible. He asked the officials to clarify the reasons for exclusion of some genuine beneficiaries and stressed that no eligible weaver should be denied assistance.He stated that 71,536 weavers across the State had received ₹25,000 each in the first phase of the scheme. Another 36,617 applications had been received, and concerned officials were conducting door-to-door verification to identify genuine beneficiaries, he added.He directed them to complete the verification process by the end of August, while adding that the remaining eligible beneficiaries would receive ₹25,000 each in the second phase.“There should be no scope for negligence, discrimination or political interference in implementing the scheme. Officials should maintain full transparency while verifying eligibility, and closely monitor cases where deserving beneficiaries are being left out,” he said. Published - August 27, 2026 07:32 pm IST
