Officials launch action plan to transform Puttaparthi into a clean, spiritual city

The Sri Sathya Sai district officials have prepared a time-bound action plan to turn Puttaparthi into a clean, modern, model spiritual city, with a focus on drinking water, sanitation and civic infrastructure.Speaking to the media here after a review meeting with the officials of the Municipality, Revenue and Rural Water Works departments on Saturday, District Collector Shyam Prasad said that the civic issues under the municipal limits of Puttaparthi would be given top priority.“The action plan is to make the town free of single-use plastic, stagnant water, and garbage. We want to ensure 100% segregation of wet and dry waste at households and commercial establishments and use only compartmentalised vehicles for collection,” he said. With a break in the monsoon activity due to El Nino conditions, officials were instructed to complete drain desilting immediately and fill potholes on a war footing. Regular fogging and anti-mosquito spraying were also ordered to prevent mosquito breeding. The Collector said that officials should ensure uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to all wards and operate sewage treatment plants at full capacity every day. Paired dustbins should be installed at commercial areas.Mr. Shyam Prasad warned that delays in completing works within deadlines or lapses in sanitation management would invite stringent action.
