Off the news: Wildfire study funding goes up in flames

It is disappointing that the widely supported Maui Wildfire Exposure Study, which chronicles the fire’s very real long-term health and social impacts, has been effectively defunded because legislators failed to agree on an appropriations bill. Facing a deficit of $1.5 million, project leader Ruben Juarez said the effort will not be able to continue.
