Taking to Reddit, a user said: “Really sad that the show went completely off the rails again tonight in Truro. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! “James is clearly too in his own head about hecklers. I don’t think it’s really okay to just give up halfway through a show though. “So many paying audience members didn’t get to see what we paid for. I’m still a fan, but I won’t be seeing him live again.” READ MORE ON JAMES ACASTER A fan commented: “I was only 5 rows back and it seemed to me like the audience (myself included) were really enjoying the show and were obviously fans as they were getting the Taskmaster, Off Menu references etc. “James obviously had a different perception and helped the derailment to a certain extent by criticising the audience and suggesting that they weren’t enjoying themselves. “I’m so disappointed that we didn’t get to see the show we’d paid for.” Somebody else wrote: “It’s such a shame that someone who has crafted a concept and worked on a performance for however long doesn’t get to deliver it as fluently as possible because some idiots think it’s ok to shout out and ruin it for everyone who’s paid for a ticket. Yes he’s had a show that welcomed hecklers before but this one didn’t and wasn’t advertised as such.” Yet another fumed: “Yeah it was a shame. I saw the same show at the Southbank Centre and it was incredible, but tonight felt like he didn’t trust the Cornish audience to get it.” Whole someone else added: “He dealt with the first heckler well and it was funny but I’m not sure why he kept engaging with the people who piped up afterwards. “They were looking for attention and he kept giving it to them – I noticed a point where he dropped his character and there was no going back to the show from there. “Hopefully there are tickets left to another show nearby as I’d love to hear the rest of the material.” Another audience member wrote on X after the show: “If I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen James Acaster in Truro and Tony the builder derailed the show with his heckling, I would have two nickels. “What the hell is your problem Tony.” The Sun have contacted James’ representative for a comment.
