Of Course Reacher Is Coming Back for Season 5

3 min readWILL WE EVER get tired of watching Alan Ritchson kick ass, take his shirt off, and make all sorts of new friends as Jack Reacher? Through four seasons of Prime Video’s hit series Reacher, the answer is a resounding “probably not.”The fourth season of Reacher (based on author Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow) found the show veering into some surprisingly new territory. The show leaned harder into the political/conspiracy thriller than it ever had before, bringing government black ops and national political figures into the story for the first time; it also showed Reacher himself to be more vulnerable and susceptible to getting hurt and being wrong than ever before. Of course, at the end of the day, the show still knows what people want: crime-solving and ass-kicking, most of which is going to come from the hands of our favorite gigantic hobo and former military investigator.And the end of the season paid that off wonderfully. Not only did we get some of the greatest Reacher action to date—his final face-off with both Lila (Agnez Mo) and Amisha (Anggun) was absolutely awesome—but we got a surprisingly touching final moment as well, with Reacher showing some true kindness in a scene set on the Philadelphia subway that mirrored the season’s inciting incident.How could you watch that and not immediately want to see more Reacher? Rodin Eckenroth//Getty ImagesA few cast members for Reacher season 5 have already been announced, including Amanda Ip as the aforementioned Michelle Chang.Another bit of notable casting for season 5 is that Jay Baruchel has joined the cast, playing Chief Buck Bauer. He was originally cast for Reacher’s fourth season as Jacob Merrick (the role that Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette wound up playing), but had to drop out due to personal matters. He now steps into the season 5 cast instead.Also among the cast are Kevin Durand (who Lost fans will remember as the villainous mercenary Martin Keamy, among many notable roles through the years) and Ciara Bravo, who most recently appeared in Netflix’s hit romantic comedy Voicemails for Isabelle.
