Sign in to your TheGamer account Two weeks from today, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Nintendo Switch 2 will be released. Various pre-order bonuses being given away for committing to buying the game early have been revealed around the world, and now Nintendo of America has shared what Zelda fans in the US will get if they buy the Ocarina remake before it gets here. Ocarina Of Time's Underwhelming Early Purchase Bonus Nintendo Even better, actually, as the newly revealed bonus isn’t only for those who pre-order, but an early purchase incentive. Anyone who buys a digital copy of Ocarina of Time by 11:59 pm PT on November 23, 2026, more than two weeks after its release, will also be gifted a Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary digital wallpaper for their phone and desktop. If you’re not jumping for joy at learning that information, you’re not alone. The big reveal by Nintendo has not just left Zelda fans in the US feeling unphased, but some of them are downright upset and angry. Largely due to the fact that fans in other countries are being given far better bonuses than what is effectively a JPEG. Ocarina Pre-Order Bonuses From Around The World In the UK, physical copies of Ocarina of Time come with a set of Spiritual Stone replicas. Across the Channel in France, there are several pre-order bonuses up for grabs, the most sought-after being a slip cover modeled after the box the original Ocarina came in on N64 in Europe. Just north of the border in Canada, a similar pre-order bonus is being given away by EB Games. The same concept, but it’s the red and gold cover that was used for Ocarina in North America. That last one, in particular, likely stings more than the others since it’s the same box that was used in the US. It’s unclear why that pre-order bonus couldn’t have been available in the US too, but unfortunately it’s an EB Games exclusive and looks like it’s going to stay that way. It’s worth noting that the digital wallpaper is an early purchase bonus for the digital version of Ocarina only. It’s also not clear if the wallpaper will be given out in other countries, although so far Nintendo’s US account is the only one to have shared how to get it. There is technically a much better pre-order bonus available in the US - the textured foil cover art. That naturally only comes with the physical edition of Ocarina, though. It’s also only available in very limited quantities and is not exclusive to one country like all of the other pre-orders - you can get it wherever you buy the game, provided there are any left at this stage. Zelda fans have been letting Nintendo know how they feel about all this in the replies to the post above and elsewhere on social media. Many are using the other, far superior, pre-order bonuses to demonstrate just how low-effort they believe the wallpaper to be. Others have already ripped the wallpaper and downloaded it without ordering a copy of the game, which is presumably pretty easy to do.
