‘Obsessed’ teacher, 45, sobs as she’s jailed for having sex with teen boy, 15, after sending him 25,000 texts

AN “OBSESSED” special education teacher sobbed in court as she was jailed for having sex with a 15-year-old student. The student, who has not been identified, told the court: “For two or three years, I thought it was my fault.” Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! But the brave pupil added: “I forgive her for what she did.” Havemann-Niedrach pleaded guilty last April to sexually assaulting the boy when he was in eighth grade over a six month period. The former Freehold Intermediate School teacher exchanged thousands of messages with the teenager in early 2024. Within the 25,000 exchanged texts were lurid photo and videos, as well as footage of the pair engaging in sexual conduct, authorities said. Prosecutors also said the former teacher was “obsessed” with her victim. She only stopped after she was arrested in June that year, according to cops. Most read in The Sun Authorities began probing Havemann-Niedrach when the schools vice principal informed authorities that the teacher had been spotted “rubbing the victim’s back”. The teacher who spotted her alleged behaviour also claimed they saw Havemann-Niedrach “flirting with him and noticed her touching his leg.” The victim also allegedly told pals he was dating the married teacher from Ocean County, Jackson. The boy’s mum said she became concerned after his sister saw her sitting in his teacher’s car and saw him texting late at night. While being quizzed by cops, the boy initially lied, telling them he was dating the teacher’s daughter. But he eventually admitted he had sex with the predatory suspect. In court Havemann-Niedrach said: “I apologize profusely for my actions.” “I am moved by his forgiveness”, she added. The disgraced teacher is the mother of two small children, and started working at Freehold Intermediate in March 2022. Before the allegations came to light, Havemann-Niedrach was an active member of the local community. In 2017 she was one of ten young female leaders awarded by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore as “Phenomenal Women Under 40”, according to Jersey Shore online. A spokesperson has since cut any ties with her after the allegations arose. They said: “We want to make it unequivocally clear that Ms. Havemann-Niedrach is no longer associated with Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.”
