Oasis share ‘Wonderwall’ tribute to England team as song returns to charts after World Cup

Oasis have shared a ‘Wonderwall’ tribute to England, as the Britpop classic has returned to the charts, over 30 years after its initial release. The team all stood arm-in-arm to sing along following their wins against Croatia, DR Congo, Mexico, Norway, France and more, and the trend saw Kane go viral for singing so loudly that he briefly lost his voice, and for Jordan Henderson injuring his wrist while running to join the team as they sang. Noel Gallagher quickly threw his support behind the track becoming England’s 2026 World Cup anthem, saying the song “belongs to the people”. He also quipped that he “couldn’t believe” that Jude Bellingham really knew the lyrics. Liam also shared his backing, and reacted to the news that ‘Wonderwall’ had seen a 50 per cent spike in streams on Spotify in the UK thanks to the World Cup. In the UK, the song has made its way onto the Top 10 of the Official Charts – currently sat at Number Eight. At the midway point for this week, it looks like Sam Fender and Olivia Dean may stay at Number One for the 18th week with ‘Rein Me In’, although they are facing tough competition from Dutch dance duo ANOTR.
