Bryson said Oakland County’s Adopt-a-Road started decades ago, not long after Texas started its Adopt-a-Highway/Road programs in 1985 as a way to clear litter from the roadsides. Volunteers collect garbage blown or tossed from passing cars that could jam up the drain infrastructure.
