Sign in to your ScreenRant account Discovery within a larger whole is the key theme of today's Connections, with words that only make sense if you know what they're a part of. From classical mythology to simple foods, each section of the puzzle challenges you to look at broader subjects and break them down. With the right clues at hand, you can find out what topics to investigate further as you play. You only have four chances to make a mistake before losing a game of Connections, limiting your options as you play. The best advice for any day of Connections is to take your time to understand many possible contexts one phrase could mean besides what seems obvious. Similar to the Letter Boxed NYT puzzles, you have to find patterns to correctly discover the right path. Today's Connections Category Hints August 29 #1176 All four categories for today's Connections are asking you to understand a broader topic first. For example, one category might have names for buttons, but only as part of a larger technological setup, with the latter context something you have to recognize. As you're looking at the words in the puzzle, think about where you would normally find them, or if parts of a term can be broken down into a different subject. If you want to know some hints regarding today's puzzle categories, check out these clues below: One category is about parts you would find within a specific section of a vehicle you use to drive places. One category is about various words defining alternate types of healthy food sometimes served first before a greater meal. One category is about names for buttons that help you form words or sentences digitally. One category is about words that, when broken down, contain names of people from classical legends. If you want to go all out with some of your clue-searching, you should look at the category names to get some extra help. There are also spoilers for each category if you find yourself needing to solve a single category to finish up. UNDER THE HOOD OF A CAR KINDS OF SALAD KEYBOARD KEYS STARTING WITH FIGURES FROM GREEK MYTH Today's Connections Answers August 29 #1176 Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained UNDER THE HOOD OF A CAR ALTERNATOR BATTERY ENGINE RADIATOR If you've ever had to do internal work on your car, words like RADIATOR or ALTERNATOR should stand out immediately in today's puzzle. Even if you aren't familiar with cars, these terms may be ones you've heard when getting work done on your vehicle by a third party mechanic. At the very least, a BATTERY and ENGINE are the more commonly known car parts, making this category easy to put together. Green Answers: Revealed & Explained KINDS OF SALAD CHOPPED GREEK HOUSE WEDGE It can be easy to mistake HOUSE and SPACE together in today's puzzle for how they could be part of a "personal" theme for a category. On the other hand, CHOPPED or GREEK have very few meanings, with the latter term either meaning an ethnicity or type of food. Since other ethnicities aren't in the puzzle, you can imagine a GREEK salad having correlation to a HOUSE, WEDGE or CHOPPED salad as well. Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained KEYBOARD KEYS CONTROL ESCAPE SHIFT SPACE As someone who types every day for their job, this category stood out to me immediately with words like SPACE and SHIFT existing in the same space. These words easily mean two terms you'd find on a keyboard, with ESCAPE and CONTROL being rarer keys you'd press when writing something digitally. Although simple to understand if you get the broader context, those struggling with this category can see how these words don't really relate to any of the more complex words in the puzzle. Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained STARTING WITH FIGURES FROM GREEK MYTH AT LAST HERALD HYDRANT TRITONE The only reason I was able to figure out this part of the puzzle is that I saw the word "Hydra" hidden within HYDRANT. This draws comparisons to Greek mythology, leading you to discover that "Triton" is almost all of TRITONE. By seeing "Atlas" in AT LAST and "Hera" in HERALD, this Connections is all but finished with those two major characters in classic myth.
