NVIDIA Vera Single vs. Dual Socket CPU Performance

For those curious how NVIDIA Vera is scaling between single and dual socket deployments, here are some benchmarks I carried out a while back exploring the power and performance from one to two Vera CPUs. A Phoronix Premium supporter recently inquired about 1P vs. 2P NVIDIA Vera performance and I happened to have some data collected during the recent NVIDIA Vera benchmarking when also carrying out the NVIDIA Vera SMT performance evaluation and also looking at NVIDIA Vera performance for HPC against AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon. This article is quite straight-forward and is a standalone look at how the performance and power align between one and two socket Vera configurations. A variety of workloads known to scale to high core/thread counts were used that are also multi-socket NUMA friendly. Due to time constraints and Xeon and EPYC having not exact 88 core product equivalents, these benchmarks are just standalone for NVIDIA Vera 1P vs. 2P. Each NVIDIA Vera CPU provides 88 Olympus cores with SMT to provide 176 threads, or 172 cores / 352 threads for the full NVIDIA dual Vera configuration. These NVIDIA Vera benchmarks were done remotely on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with the Linux 6.17 64K kernel.
