NVIDIA-Started Open Secure AI Alliance Moves To The Linux Foundation

Earlier this year NVIDIA led an effort with more than two dozen other companies to launch the Open Secure AI Alliance with a focus on keeping open-source AI models secure. The Open Secure AI Alliance today is transitioning from being stewarded by NVIDIA to becoming a Linux Foundation project. When the Open Secure AI Alliance launched in July it was already building off the Linux Foundation's Akrites initiative and OpenSSF. It was founded by NVIDIA and backed by the likes of IBM / Red Hat, SpaceX, OpenClaw, Palantir, and other organizations. Now Open Secure AI Alliance is transitioning to the Linux Foundation umbrella as a neutral home. The Linux Foundation announced this transition today on LinkedIn. "Originally founded by NVIDIA, the Open Secure AI Alliance will develop open source tools, shared standards, and defensive practices that help organizations inspect, audit, and secure AI systems. Under the Linux Foundation’s neutral governance, this community can accelerate the development of a shared, open security stack for AI. That includes initiatives such as the Shared AI Findings Exchange (SAFE), which enables organizations to share threat intelligence and collectively strengthen defenses against emerging AI security risks. AI security is a shared challenge. Addressing it requires an open ecosystem where organizations can collaborate across vendors, platforms, and industries."
