Manah: A team from the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) recently completed a 4-day mission in the Wilayat of Manah where it documented basic elements of intangible cultural heritage.The project included 8 documentary interviews with a number of elderly people and persons interested in the cultural heritage of the Wilayat of Manah. The interviews covered various topics, most notably the history of mosques and Quranic schools, the tradition of endowments, women’s cultural heritage, craft industries, aspects of Bedouin life, agriculture and irrigation systems and folklore. The interviews also included the documentation of local vocabulary, names, customs, traditions and social norms that characterise the local community in the Wilayat of Manah.The project constitutes part of national efforts aimed at enhancing cooperation between government departments and the local community in documenting cultural heritage that abounds in the Wilayat of Manah.
