Police said the clip was not sent directly to Siddique but was uploaded online by an account claiming to be gangster Zeeshan Akhtar.According to police, the complaint was filed after Siddique's sister came across the viral audio clip on a social media platform and approached the authorities. Based on her complaint, Bandra Police registered an NC offence and launched a preliminary inquiry into the matter.Officials said the authenticity of the audio clip is yet to be established and is currently under verification. In the recording, a man claiming to be gangster Zeeshan Akhtar is purportedly heard warning Siddique to strengthen his security arrangements. Police, however, clarified that Siddique himself did not receive any direct threat through phone, message or any other communication channel.POLICE EXAMINING IF THE CLIP IS GENUINEInvestigators are examining whether the voice in the clip is genuine or has been fabricated or manipulated. As part of the probe, police have sought technical details to trace the source of the upload and identify the person responsible for circulating the audio online. Officials said cyber experts are analysing the clip while investigators have also sought details of the internet protocol (IP) address from which it was uploaded. The information is expected to help establish the origin of the recording and determine whether it was uploaded from within the country or from another location.Police said further action would depend on the outcome of the verification process and the technical analysis of the audio clip. If the threat is found to be genuine, the case could be converted into a cognisable offence and appropriate legal provisions invoked. For now, the investigation remains at a preliminary stage, with authorities focusing on verifying the authenticity of the viral recording and identifying those behind its circulation.
