Not his residence: Ajay Devgn's team breaks silence on BMC demolition of property

Actor Ajay Devgn’s team has issued an official statement following the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) demolition drive at a Juhu property, clarifying that the premises are rented out and not the star's personal residence."We would like to clarify that the property in question is not Ajay Devgn’s residence, but a separate property that has been rented out. We have applied to the BMC for the requisite permissions in respect of one of our properties and are duly complying with all applicable BMC rules, regulations and guidelines. The necessary changes, alterations and modifications, as required by the BMC, have been carried out," the statement read.The clarification follows civic action on October 12, when the BMC demolished portions of alleged unauthorised construction at the bungalow after internal modifications reportedly continued despite a stop-work order.The 7,802-square-foot property, located at Plot S-10, N S Road No. 11, in the JVPD Scheme within the Kapol Co-operative Housing Society, was leased to Florian Hurel Salon Private Limited under a registered five-year agreement dated August 10, 2026, for Rs 10.61 crore at an initial monthly rent of Rs 16 lakh. While the Devgn family obtained a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the housing society for the lease, the society maintained that its approval permitted a leave-and-licence tenancy without authorising structural alterations or a commercial conversion.Earlier, on September 10, the BMC's Building Proposal Department issued a notice under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, ordering the immediate halt of unapproved work involving Siporex blocks and partition walls, leading to the eventual demolition after non-compliance.Meanwhile, Devgn's last theatrical release was Drishyam: The Conclusion.
