A NOSTALGIC clothing brand has reportedly axed over 50 jobs in the UK as the company prepares to relocate. The brand said the move was needed to reunite its footwear operations to its headquarters. The business, which employed a total of 66 staff at its London office, will now move to Paris – where Lacoste’s headquarters are located. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! According to Drapers, Lacoste said the move was made in order to continue developing its footwear operations, and to unite global functions at its head office. Staff were said to have been informed of the relocation in September 2024, and were provided with departure terms that “exceeded statutory requirements”, according to the brand. It is believed that around 10 employees were given roles at the company’s new offices on Boulevard de Montmorency. Lacoste Footwear is a core product line for the luxury French brand, which was founded in 1933, and specialises in boat shoes, casual trainers and rubber hunting boots. In 2018, UK-based Pentland Group and Lacoste set up a joint venture business to manage the design, production and manufacturing of the brand’s footwear globally. Both groups have had a long-standing partnership since 1991, when Pentland Group served as its worldwide licensee. Most read in Money However, last year Lacoste repurchased the remaining shares of the business from Pentland, as it was keen to produce and design its product range entirely in-house.
