Nora Fatehi faces Rs 3-crore suit after calling chartered aircraft 'Lego airplane'

Actor Nora Fatehi is facing a Rs 3-crore civil defamation suit filed by aviation company Dunes Aviation at a Gandhinagar court over her alleged "derogatory and reckless" social media comments about one of its chartered aircraft.As per PTI, the suit alleges that Fatehi's comments, in which she referred to the aircraft as a "Lego airplane", severely damaged the company's reputation and adversely affected its commercial operations. The matter will be heard by the court of senior civil judge R Agarwal on September 25.According to the suit, the Dilbar actor recorded videos inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft during a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year. In the videos, which she posted on her Instagram handle, the actor described the aircraft as a "miniature", a "toy" and a "Lego airplane".Dunes Aviation has alleged that Fatehi's "reckless" statements, given her social media following of more than 4.6 crore, triggered booking cancellations and caused serious damage to its business. The company claimed that its bookings dropped by 15-20 per cent, while cancellations increased following the actor's remarks. The suit, filed in April this year, claimed that Fatehi's comments were "reckless, irresponsible, and made without any technical knowledge, verification or factual basis".Dunes Aviation further said that the actor's substantial follower base amplified the impact of her remarks, resulting in "serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill and adverse commercial impact" for the company. The aviation company has maintained that the aircraft in question was standard and ideally sized for the journey undertaken by the defendant. It further said that the aircraft is fully DGCA-certified, airworthy and lawfully operated under a valid NSOP.Apart from seeking Rs 3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has also sought directions from the court for the immediate removal of all social media content containing the statement or references to the aircraft.
