As the city continues to champion innovation and community-driven solutions, the Quezon City Government is now accepting entries for the 2026 Quezon City Green Awards. (The following is a press release from the Quezon City Government.) Launched in 2023, the Quezon City Green Awards (QCGA) is the country’s first LGU-led award-giving program that recognizes the most innovative initiatives that address today’s environmental and disaster resilience challenges. This year’s competition marks a significant shift from last year’s sector-based evaluation process. While the QCGA continues to recognize initiatives under its two categories—Green and Resilient—entries will now be assessed based on the challenges they address and the tangible impact they create. The Resilient Category covers initiatives on disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and recovery and rehabilitation. On the other hand, the Green Category recognizes initiatives on food security, green building, plastic waste management, and textile circularity. “Innovation knows no boundaries, so this year’s Green Awards will adopt thematic categories to really put the spotlight on innovative solutions rather than the sector they belong to,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said. “At the end of the day, our goal is to encourage collaboration across sectors and to welcome diverse ideas that can be adapted and replicated within communities, groups, and organizations, further strengthening our commitment to an inclusive, green, resilient, and sustainable future for all,” she added. Groups, including government, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector, can submit their applications online by filling out the entry form (bit.ly/4wACD2S) until August 14, 2026. Winning organizations will receive grants of up to ₱300,000 to support their innovation proposals, along with special citations, media recognition, and the opportunity to have their initiatives integrated into the city’s resilient and green programs. Beyond recognizing outstanding initiatives, the QC Green Awards will help organizations refine and expand their projects. Semi-finalists will receive expert coaching from disaster risk reduction and climate action practitioners, participate in a full-day ideation workshop, receive technical feedback from the review panel, and continue to receive guidance from the QCGA secretariat throughout the competition. Finalists will build on these opportunities through dedicated pitch coaching, formal recognition through the city’s public communication platforms, and endless opportunities for future partnerships with the Quezon City Government.
