The car reportedly had a fake number plate.Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Manisha Singh said the accused were identified as Kailash alias Diwakar, Irfan alias Imran and Sonali. Police arrested all three near a cremation ground in Sector 123.During interrogation, police found that the accused would travel in the Ertiga and conduct reconnaissance of houses in high-rise societies and other areas of the city. They would then target locked houses and steal jewellery, cash, laptops and other valuables. The three would subsequently divide the stolen goods and cash among themselves.The police investigation found that Diwakar and Sonali are in a relationship and live together. According to police, Sonali played an important role in leading the gang and conducting reconnaissance, while Diwakar and his associate Irfan were involved in carrying out the thefts. According to police, the couple had earlier run cafes in Ghaziabad and later in Noida. After suffering losses in the cafe business, the two faced financial difficulties and subsequently began committing thefts. The investigation also found that the accused would carry out thefts during the day and party at restaurants and bars at night.Police recovered stolen jewellery, five laptops, two tablets, six mobile phones and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash from the accused. The Ertiga allegedly used in the thefts was also seized.
