Logo text Netflix has renewed Nobody Wants This for a fourth season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The renewal comes just two weeks after the release of the hit rom-com’s third season, which delivered the largest opening week for a returning comedy series on the streamer this year. Created by Erin Foster and starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, the series accumulated 13.4 million views in its first two weeks. “We are so happy and thrilled to do another season of our favorite show on television, which coincidentally is the one we run,” co-showrunners and executive producers Foster, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan said in a statement. Season three saw major developments for central couple Joanne (Bell) and Rabbi Noah (Brody), who moved in together as they continued navigating their interfaith relationship. The season also further explored the complicated dynamics between Morgan (Justine Lupe), Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn), with the latter two thrust back into the dating world following their separation at the end of season two. (Find out the full spoilers for what happened in Nobody Wants This season three here.) The season three cast also included Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Paul Ben-Victor, Tovah Feldshuh, Andrew Rannells, Sarah Silverman, Shiloh Bearman and Sherry Cola. The renewal comes amid recent headlines surrounding Brody’s comments about the war in Gaza. In a recent interview with GQ, the actor said, “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.” He added, “It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago.” Following Brody’s comments, Rabbi Steve Leder, the former senior rabbi of Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles — where Foster converted to Judaism — and a technical adviser on the show’s first season, criticized the actor. “You by your own admission, are a relatively ignorant Jew, and your ignorance really showed the other day. Here’s some technical advice: If you know nothing about something, you should say nothing about it,” Leder said. Foster also addressed Brody’s comments while promoting the third season. On the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she said, “Our work environment, our set is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing. While I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK.” Brody’s co-star Feldshuh, who plays his onscreen mother Bina, also weighed in. The veteran Jewish actress told The New York Post, “To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator.” Feldshuh later denied that her comments had caused tensions with Brody or the rest of the cast. “Tensions are NOT RISING. Profound differences of opinion are. Please do not conflate the two — And none of it will be brought to the set,” she wrote on Threads last week. The official cast for Nobody Wants This season four has yet to be announced. The fourth season will once again be produced in Los Angeles, alongside a number of other recent Netflix productions, including Monster season four, The Lincoln Lawyer season five, Running Point season two, Beef season two, Nemesis and The Night Agent season four. Netflix films The Rip, Animals and The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth are also among the productions. Additional executive producers include Bell, Sara Foster, Nora Silver, Steven Levitan, Danielle Stokdyk and Jeff Morton, along with Oly Obst, who executive produces for 3 Arts Entertainment. The series is produced by 20th Television.
