Noah Wyle Wins an Emmy for The Pitt (Again!)

At the Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, a combination of cinematic giants and TV vets vied for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, but only one took it home: Noah Wyle, for The Pitt.At the Primetime Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday evening, Noah Wyle won the coveted statuette for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He beat out Sterling K. Brown (nominated for Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Mark Ruffalo (Task), and Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat).After a killer introduction delivered by John Mulaney—who read a passage from Frank Vincent’s book A Guy’s Guide to Being a Man’s Man (borrowed from the Glendale Public Library)—Wyle accepted his third-ever Emmy Award.“This is overwhelming,” Wyle began in his speech. He quickly thanked his fellow nominees: “Your work is inspirational. I watch you, I learn from you. In particular, Mr. Oldman, I have to tell you, I don’t know if there’s an actor my age that didn’t look at you in Prick Up Your Ears or Sid & Nancy and think, ‘That’s the benchmark that I want to hit one day in my career.’”Wyle then thanked “everybody that I work with” on The Pitt, as well as “everybody at HBO and Warner Television,” and referenced resuming work on season 3. “To all the men and women who work so hard on Stage 22 each and every day. We’re gonna be back there hitting it hard tomorrow morning. Really early, doing some hard stuff.”Wyle then closed his speech by reminiscing about growing up in Los Angeles, being “raised on television” and movie theaters as “my place of worship.”“This is all I’ve ever wanted to do, and this is the only club I’ve ever wanted to join. Thank you for accepting me.”The year 2026 marks Wyle’s second consecutive year as an Emmy winner. He won in the same category last year for The Pitt’s freshman season. That win came after spending most of the 1990s nominated—but never winning—for his work on ER.In addition to winning Outstanding Lead Actor, Wyle was also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the episode “12:00 p.m.,” the sixth episode of season 2 of The Pitt. The episode marked his directing debut.Wyle wasn’t the only winner from The Pitt at this year’s Emmys. Ernest Harden Jr., who played Louie on The Pitt, also won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
