Director-choreographer Farah Khan has stated that the era of superstars is over, criticising new actors for interfering in directors' decisions out of insecurity. Speaking on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s show Double Date, Farah contrasted young actors' lack of trust with the discipline of actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. She highlighted that while newcomers micro-manage casting and music, established stars place complete faith in their directors.Critiquing the mindset of the current generation, Farah highlighted how self-doubt drives their need to control creative aspects. "The problem is today's actors don't have confidence in anyone. They don't have confidence in the director. They want to choreograph the song on their own, interfere in music and casting as well. All of this comes when you are not confident about yourself," she said.Farah mentioned Shah Rukh Khan as an example of an actor who trusted her vision completely without interfering in key casting calls. "Shah Rukh has never interfered in casting when I said I want Sushmita Sen for Main Hoon Na even though she wasn't any big heroine. He didn't question. I said I want new girl in Om Shanti Om, he didn't question. He just saw the photo (of Deepika Padukone) and said, 'if you are fine with it, I'm fine,'" she added. The 61-year-old further emphasised that while today's actors focus on magazine covers and award shows over solid films, Shah Rukh, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman and Akshay Kumar maintain their original work ethic. Farah revealed that Salman never demands days off or refuses to shoot on Sundays, proving that stardom relies on hard work and trust rather than interference.Farah was last seen as one of the co-hosts alongside actor Riteish Deshmukh in the Netflix celebrity reality series - Lock Upp: Sach Ya Saza. The director-choreographer has also been active in her YouTube vlogs in which she is joined by her cook Dilip. Dilip first appeared in Farah’s Yakhni Pulao video in April 2024. She joked about his cooking and acting, pretended to fire him and brought him back in a later episode with Bollywood-style drama. Their conversations about his salary, ambitions and popularity became regular features.- Ends
