Nintendo has officially revealed gorgeous new pieces of hardware, and the pre-orders for the products are already open for anyone interested. Right now, we’re considerably early into the life cycle of the Nintendo Switch 2, meaning the next generation of Nintendo hardware is still years away from becoming a reality. Even so, there are some other types of releases, like the Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo hardware products, be they the Nintendo Switch 2 or the new Pro Controller – both of which are having stock issues and are sold out. However, these aren’t the only new products becoming available for fans. As seen in a new report by CBR, two new Pokémon-themed controllers for Nintendo Switch 2 have been announced as part of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The new controllers are openly inspired by Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Gen 1 remakes originally released in 2004. Each controller highlights different biomes from Kanto and, as you would expect, the Pokémon that are put in the spotlight. On top of all that, they are also accompanied by some great accessories. According to the report, these new Nintendo Switch 2 controllers are produced by HORI, which is well-known for its licensed products for Nintendo’s consoles and more. The Pokémon LeafGreen version of the Wired HORIPAD TURBO controller features an outdoor forest biome, highlighting Pokémon like Pikachu, Nidoran, Chansey, Meowth, and the Bulbasaur evolutionary line, as well as a Gen 3 Hoenn Pokémon Center. The whole controller is made of green-colored translucent plastic. The Pokémon FireRed version is much different, leaning into a totally different biome with other Pokémon. Using dark translucent plastic with red hues, the FireRed version of the Wired HORIPAD TURBO controller replicates the biome of a cave, with several rocks. On the controller, you can find Pokémon like Arcanine, Aerodactyl, Marowak, Charmander’s entire evolutionary line, as well as the Legendary Pokémon Gen 1 bird Moltres. According to the report by CBR, both of these controllers are now available for pre-order via HORI at around $ 34. They are, however, part of a larger collection with other products. As seen in the report, these new Wired HORIPAD TURBO controllers are part of the Pokémon Pixel Art Nintendo Switch 2 collection. This larger collection also includes a Shoulder Pouch, a Quilted Medium Pouch, and a 24-Game Card Case. All of these products are also split between the LeafGreen and FireRed themes. Both pouches are now available for pre-order at $ 31, according to CBR, while the Game Card Case is priced at $ 10 during the pre-order period. These new products dialogue directly with the release of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch earlier this year. The new controllers and accessories are a great way of looking back at Pokémon’s history, especially if you take into consideration the fact that they are remakes of the first games released for the franchise. However, in 2027, that is likely set to change, as we’ll be looking toward the release of Winds and Waves, the games that will kick off Generation 10 for the series – and, who knows, we may get new Nintendo hardware and controllers celebrating the upcoming release and the future of Pokémon, too. Brand Nintendo Original Release Date June 5, 2025 Original MSRP (USD) $449.99 Operating System Proprietary Storage 256GB internal / MicroSD Resolution 1080p (handheld) / 4K (docked)
