There's a lot that Nintendo could show next week, but the headline is the Ocarina of Time remake. First announced during a Nintendo Direct in June, the remake is scheduled to launch sometime in 2026, speculated to be one of the few daring to compete with GTA 6 in November. We haven't seen anything aside from that brief announcement teaser, and the year is quickly coming to a close, so it's more than likely that Nintendo will finally give us an extended look at the game. Otherwise, it's possible that we'll see the live-action Legend of Zelda movie at the showcase, which just wrapped filming in April. Nintendo hasn't shown anything from the film yet, other than promo shots of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda, so now would be the perfect excuse to show the very first trailer. There are also rumors of classic games getting Switch ports that always circle these events. Maybe this will be Twilight Princess' moment, eh? Time will tell. It's Not The Only Nintendo Direct Taking Place Next Week Otherwise, the dedicated Legend of Zelda showcase isn't all we have to look forward to next week. Also announced was a Nintendo Direct for September 9, at 7am PT, that will last roughly 45 minutes — followed by a Nintendo Treehouse live stream. That's 75 minutes of Nintendo announcements, capping off the Summer with Zelda and whatever else the console giant has cooking. We can speculate endlessly about what might be at the broader showcase, but if there's one thing that's certain to appear next week, it's Ocarina of Time. With just three months left of 2026 and the remake still due to launch this year, Nintendo doesn't have much runway left for marketing. As for the wildcards? I'm going to try my best to manifest a new 3D Mario game. Or maybe another Animal Crossing. Alright... that might be less wildcard and more hopium, but c'mon.
