You pour in the drink mixture, select a program and let the machine process it. The drink freezes without added ice, so there is no extra water from ice cubes diluting the recipe.The three presets are Slush, Spiked Slush and Milkshake. Adjustable temperature controls let you change the thickness of the finished drink, whether you prefer a looser slush or a thicker frozen cocktail. The front handle dispenses it directly into a glass.The 72-ounce capacity refers to the vessel size. This FS300 model has a maximum liquid fill of 48 ounces, leaving room for the mixture as it freezes. This is enough to prepare several servings in one batch, though the number of drinks will depend on the size of your glasses.Once a batch is ready, the machine can keep drinks frozen for up to 12 hours while running. That is useful for parties or game days, when people may want refills at different times. You can leave the batch in the machine and dispense another serving when needed.Recipes do need the right amount of sugar to slush properly. Ninja says sugar-free and low-sugar liquids will not slush on their own, so follow the machine’s recipe guidance when making substitutions. A diet soda, for example, will need an appropriate recipe adjustment.The machine also has removable, dishwasher-safe parts for cleanup after a batch.
