NIL agents in Louisiana now have to register; high school rules take effect soon

Starting last month, anyone assisting Louisiana student-athletes in negotiating name, image, and likeness deals must now register with the state, following the enactment of Gov. Jeff Landry’s Act 895. This new law, spearheaded by Sen. Patrick Connick, broadens the state's sports agent registry to cover NIL representatives. This move is crucial in ensuring transparency and protecting both student-athletes and their agents from exploitation, as high school-level rules are soon to follow suit. It highlights a significant shift in how states are regulating athlete endorsements.
