Nicole Taylor, who was a member of the country music trio alongside triplet sisters Nika Taylor and Natalie Taylor, died on Sept. 28 following a battle with breast cancer, her siblings confirmed. She was 35. “We are shocked and heartbroken to announce the passing of our sister Nicole Taylor. This isn’t the video we thought we’d ever be making,” Natalie said beside Nika in a video shared to YouTube Nov. 2. "We're still processing everything. This honestly feels really hard to talk about, but we're going to do our best in sharing some of her story.” Though the sisters formed Taylor Red—formerly known as Red Roots—in 2011, they gained popularity in 2021 after their song “Country Money” went viral on social media. But Natalie and Nika shared that one year later, Nicole had been diagnosed with "very aggressive" stage three breast cancer. And while they’d hoped for a positive outcome following their sister’s 2022 diagnosis, Nika shared that they’ve found peace in knowing that their sister is “no longer suffering.”“We thought she would be here sharing her story of earthly healing,” Nika explained, “but instead we’re here sharing her story of heavenly healing.” Both Natalie and Nika recalled being with their older sister when she received her diagnosis. "I just remember breaking down in absolute shock,” Natalie said. “I was just so surprised. We've been blessed with good health our whole life so this was a big shock and it wasn't what we were expecting.”Photo by Jason Kempin/Getty Images for the Grand Ole OpryShe continued, "I was crying and ran out to the hallway to tell Nika and I just remember Nicole said, 'God's going to use this for his glory.'" Despite responding well to treatment and being told at one point she had "no evidence of the disease," Nicole's breast cancer returned and had progressed to stage four, which is when she was given just three months to live. But Nicole beat those odds with “fearlessness,” living another year before she died last month. And in the face of tragedy, Natalie shared her faith has only strengthened since the loss. “I've been a Christian a long time and something like this, you know, can make you either grow closer to God or distance yourself,” Natalie said. “This trial I would say grows that. I don’t know how someone could get through this kind of thing without God.” The sisters confirmed on their website that the family held a private funeral service, adding that “Nicole, the oldest of us three sisters, will be greatly missed.” “She was our leader and our best friend,” they added in the statement. “We are heartbroken, but we know she is in Heaven and will see her again.”For the latest breaking news updates, click here to download the E!
