The “Longlegs” actor rushed to file three permits after a massive sinkhole formed outside his $10.5 million California beachfront property on Sept. 8, Page Six can exclusively reveal. Cage, 62, requested an emergency building permit with city officials, where he was granted permission to pack sandbags against the beach and the exterior of the home for both wave protection and to prevent further coastal erosion. CA Post The sinkhole swallowed Cage’s driveway, and has since wrapped around his $10.5 million beachfront home. CA Post Records show additional permits were also approved for asphalt debris removal related to the sinkhole in preparation for shoring installation and excavation to collect soil samples. All three were filed within days of the sinkhole forming. The chasm was initially reported to be 30 feet by 30 feet, but has since grown in size to the point where it has now wrapped around the side of Cage’s home and right up to the front door. Images from the scene showed the hole swallowed Cage’s driveway, a construction site portable toilet, ladders and parts of a privacy fence. After the sinkhole developed, shown above, Cage received approval from city officials to pack sandbags against the beach and the exterior of the home for both wave protection and to prevent further coastal erosion, Page Six can reveal. CA Post The City of Malibu has since ordered residents in the area to evacuate due to lack of access for emergency response teams like fire and sheriff. Cage’s reps did not respond to requests for comment. Days after the sinkhole debuted, the City of Malibu issued a “mandatory evacuation order” and marked all 31 homes on the street “unsafe” due to a lack of vehicular access to the area, meaning fire and sheriff personnel would not be able to reach them. Cage, 62, and his wife, Riko Shibata, 31, resurfaced after the sinkhole incident at the opening night of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art on Sept. 19, shown above. FilmMagic Cage, shown above at New York Comic Con on Oct. 10, has yet to address the sinkhole publicly. Sea Level Drive has a single entry and exit,” the city explained at the time. Cage took over the 4,000 square-foot home in 2024, with the property providing a rooftop deck and private beach access, as well as ocean views. He has yet to publicly address the matter, but resurfaced at the opening night of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art weeks later with his 31-year-old wife, Riko Shibata.
