Nick Uhlenhuth From ‘Married at First Sight’ Is Dating Again—But He’s Done With Dating Shows (Exclusive)

Typically, the brides and grooms participating in Married at First Sight are total unknowns—but that wasn’t the case with season 20. For the milestone season set in Seattle, Peacock tapped reality TV veteran Nick Uhlenhuth, who’s previously appeared on The Circle, Perfect Match, and Battle Camp...even though he’s currently based in Austin, not Seattle. Naturally, fans had their doubts.During an exclusive interview with Cosmo, Nick explained how he came to be cast on the show and why he said yes (and no, it was not for fame). “MAFS uses the same production company as Perfect Match, so I think I was on their radar,” Nick explained. “And I think, on Perfect Match, it was pretty clear that I was trying to be in a serious relationship.”peacockAccording to Nick, the woman who ended up becoming his (temporary) wife, Courteney Landis, “splits time between Austin and Portland” so the connection “made sense”...at least, logistically. But seeing as the two didn’t even make it to Decision Day, it’s pretty clear that the connection began and ended there.Wondering whether Nick and Courteney are friendly now that the dust has settled? The answer is a resounding no. “I’m not going around trying to spread hate,” said Nick. “But we don’t talk. I don’t really have any interest in maintaining a relationship with her, to be honest.”Throughout the season, the two clashed over a number of issues, one of those being Courteney’s possible attraction to fellow pickleball enthusiast Adam Dehmlow. But when it came down to it, the deal-breaker, for Nick, was Courteney’s treatment of him.“I mean, maybe she was in Adam,” Nick said. “But Adam was definitely not into her. I don’t think any of the other guys were into Courteney. After watching it back, it’s kind of hard to be into someone who’s just constantly disrespectful and rude.” Well!!Did politics have anything to do with their eventual split? According to Nick (who, for the record, has said that he is “certainly not MAGA”), the fact that Courteney feigned ignorance about the significance of January 6 and referred to herself as “not a #MeToo girl” didn’t matter all that much.peacock“We didn’t talk about politics at all,” Nick admitted. “After earning more about where she stands—like, I don’t resonate with that at all. But politics never got brought up in in our discussions. There There was just fundamental differences in how we viewed romantic relationships and what we wanted long term.”During the reunion, it was revealed that Courteney now has a new pickleball-playing boyfriend—and while Nick isn’t ready to go public with anyone new yet, he did confirm that he’s “dating” again post-show.“I definitely took a break for a while, but yeah, I am dating right now,” he said. “I honestly think that this experience gave me a mindset shift on what matters and what real red flags actually are, so that’s been really handy. There’s girl that I’m still seeing, and something came up kind of early that gave me, like, Courteney PTSD. But we talked about it, had a very mature conversation, and then adapted andchanged, and everything’s going great.”As far as regrets go, Nick has “absolutely no regrets about taking the chance,” adding, “I don’t regret putting myself out there and putting my heart on the line and hoping for the best.” And though he thinks “it might be time to hang it up on the dating shows,” he’s not giving up on finding his person.“I thought there was an actual chance that I would be straight-up married for the rest of my life from the show,” he said. “I was hoping for it. I was very optimistic. So yeah, that’s something I’m still hoping for.”
