Newcastle finally unveil Matthias Jaissle as Eddie Howe’s replacement with new boss facing huge job amid star exodus

MATTHIAS JAISSLE has finally been confirmed as Newcastle’s new manager. And the 38-year-old declared he had an “exceptional platform to build on” Eddie Howe’s success – on the very day he lost captain Bruno Guimaraes. Jaissle penned a four-year contract on Tyneside after the Mags agreed to pay Al-Ahli £9.5m compensation and has been at their La Manga training camp since Saturday. The ex-Red Bull Salzburg boss, who will speak to Sun Sport and other journalists for the first time in La Manga on Thursday, said: “It is an incredible honour to become head coach of Newcastle United. “This is one of the biggest clubs in European football, with a unique history, identity and supporter base, and I am excited to experience that passion and connection first-hand. “When Newcastle United comes your way, you take notice. While the Samba ace is now finalising his move to the Gunners, the new man is hard at work with his revamped Toon side. Czech Republic goalie Lukas Hornicek, 24, arrived as Toon’s fifth summer signing in a £25.7m deal from Portuguese club Braga on Monday.
