PAUL DUMMETT has been appointed as Newcastle United’s new loans manager. The 34-year-old Premier League cult hero has already been tasked with sending four players away for the 2026-27 season. It comes after ex-Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, 44, was moved to become the team’s head of corporate affairs, according to The i Paper. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! A restructure of the team’s loans department has also seen Peter Rampage, 42, take over as the talent management lead. Right-back Leo Shahar and striker Sean Neave, both 19, are expected to be sent away on loan after attention from Championship and League One teams. Park Seung-soo, 19, and Miodrag Pivas, 21, are also expected to be sent on loan following their recent moves to the North East. South Korean winger Park joined the Magpies’ youth setup in 2025 after making 25 appearances for K League 2 side Suwon Samsung Bluewings. Meanwhile, Pivas joined Newcastle in July 2024, before spending last season in the Netherlands with Willem II. Ex-Wales international Dummett will draw on his experiences as a loanee and a cult figure star in his new role. He was also sent on loan to Gateshead and St Mirren early on in his career, with later permanent moves to Wigan Athletic and Carlisle United. It is hoped that Newcastle’s revamped loans department can help close the gap between the club’s academy and first team. Additionally, loan deals have been agreed for youngsters Antonio Cordero, Anthony Munda, both 19, and Alex Murphy, 22.
