New Sherlock Holmes TV Adaptation Inspired By Major Real-World Figure In Development

Deadline reports that Andy Berman is developing Sherlock's Secretary at USA Network, which focuses on a quirky London woman who has the unenviable job of responding to the thousands of letters addressed to Sherlock himself. One day, however, after years of working with the world's greatest detective, she begins to investigate the mysteries arriving at 221B Baker Street. The project is inspired by a real person, according to veteran producer Robert Nash. In comments to Deadline, Nash spoke of how he brought the idea to Berman and how he sees it as a fresh avenue into Sherlock's universe: “When I learned there was an actual person whose job was answering letters sent to Sherlock Holmes, I knew there was a television series hiding inside that story. Andy immediately saw a fresh way into the Sherlock universe, and I couldn’t be more excited to see it find a home at USA.” More to come...
