New Sherlock Holmes Series Officially Premieres Next Month

Deadline reports that Alza Festival, a new event that features microdramas, will present a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes, among other classic stories like Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights, as well as an Eric Roberts rom-com called Billionaires' Broken Vow. The festival, which is the first of its kind, will run for three days beginning October 16 and begins with screenings of Pride and Prejudice and Moriarty Rising: A Sherlock Holmes Tale. Both microdramas will be modern takes on the iconic tales, with Moriarty considered a dual format, which means it counts as a premium vertical series and a standalone feature film. The final day of the festival will see the premieres of Wuthering Heights (a modern retelling that takes place on a ranch in the United States) and Billionaires' Broken Vow. In a statement, Alza founder and CEO Pete Torres explained that the festival will connect "studio founders, creators, directors and talent...directing to their audiences and fans." He added that the "global force" of vertical storytelling "has earned a stage of its own," which is why he created Alza. Other featured projects at Alza Festival include Gary and Edmund Entin's thriller The Count, crime drama Mobking, TaTa Sherise's comedy series 50 Worst Dates, Kristine Covillo and Ben Davis' psychological thriller Zero Point, the Denmark-produced Glaze and Morphic Studios' anime Lola.
