New search for Brit teenager who vanished in mountains near Dracula’s castle following SOS call on solo hiking trip

A renewed search is underway for 18-year-old Bristol University student George Smyth, who disappeared in Romania’s mountainous region near Dracula’s castle during a solo hiking trip. Smyth, presumed dead, made an SOS call in November detailing his exhaustion and distress before losing contact with emergency services. The search highlights the dangers faced by hikers in remote areas and underscores the importance of safety measures for solo adventurers. The case also brings attention to the challenges in search and rescue operations in difficult terrain.
